Bows, Bows, Bows, so many ways to tie a bow!

Have you downloaded our Bow App? It will show you how to tie a beautiful bow that you can add to so many things!

For Wreathes, we love to use a Clover Bow and layer it with several ribbons.

Choose a wired ribbon and practice until you love it! Shape the bow out and wire it into the wreath.

I love to re-purpose, re-use and recycle my holiday decorations. My Christmas doorway this year was a Red and white color story, complete with Santa faces and candy canes. After Christmas I removed the Santa faces and Candy canes (they were wired on) and stored them away with Christmas. I left everything on on my green pine garland that is attached to permanent screws around my doorway. Red and white ribbon, a white sparkle garland and all the assortment of red, white and red and white patterned balls.

Valentines is a favorite holiday celebration for me. Probably because I Love, love, love RED, and my birthday is February 12th. I love to throw a party for myself and decorate for valentines day! My next favorite color (or color combo ) is Black and white! I have collected serving platters in black and white to use for many celebrations! So it was only natural for me to add Black and white in with valentines day!

I collected my new wooden conversation hearts from Adams and Company and my stash of Black and white polka dot ribbon ( Love polka dots too!) and transformed my Christmas garland into my Valentine Doorway! Love is in the air!

My Christmas Pillow is the perfect size for a backdrop to my Target Heart pillow

I turned the pillow around to the blank backside.

Add polka dot ribbon and tie a shoe string bow, finished on top of the pillow

Tip: Ribbon is a quick  fix to a tired, out of season or plain pillow. It can easily dress up or add a holiday touch!

Does your door make a great 1st impression for the holidays? Show Me Decorating shows you how in a few simple steps!

Determine your theme or color story

Pick your base: wreath, teardrop, ball wreath, grapevine etc. Keep in mind the size of your door, porch or entrance way for appropriate proportion.

Shape and Fluff your teardrop before decorating

Next add in a Show Me Decorating key ingredient, a floral spray. Use the wired greenery of the teardrop to twist over the floral spray to hold on

3 Gold glittered floral sprays were wired on (no glue needed)

The 2nd floral spray is added the same way, wiring on with the greenery branches.

Another Show Me Decorating key ingredient is used, Ribbon! Cuts lengths of each ribbon (approx.1yd) and place a wire in about the middle leaving one side a little longer.

Tie a coordinating bow. get the Show Me Decorating app, to learn to tie a bow.

Add on the 3rd Show me Decorating Key ingredient, balls! 3 gold balls are wired onto the green teardrop base,on the top right, middle and bottom left.

The Lisa Frost Halloween banner was the inspiration for this fun and colorful Halloween doorway!

Show Me Decorating tip: Picking a theme (from an inspiration piece or item) or color story will help narrow selections for your decorating projects.

Glowing orange Faux garlands will be the base for this Fun Candy Halloween garland!

Designer tip: always shape faux greenery and florals, handle each branch, pulling out and shaping for a full look. Quality wired garland is a must to attach and wire your focal and filler items, ribbon, balls, florals etc.

Permanent screws have been installed in mortar around the doorway. Landscape wiring is attached and then garland is wired on by twisting the wire over and back.

8″ Shatterproof balls are wired on 1st, colors coordinate with the inspiration banner. Matt and shiny finish are selected for interest.

All the balls are placed on first, most of these were used on the fall doorway! (could be used for Christmas if the color scheme or theme allows)

Supplies are gathered on a blanket to protect them from the ground.

Oversized candy corn and glitter florals will help complete the look. Always think in size and proportion to your doorway, and what can be seen from the street.

Glitter Jack o Lantern faces are light weight and add in after balls are attached.

A good Quality base is a must to allow you to wire and secure big focal points to.

To update your Halloween, add Black and white, polka dots and stripes with wired ribbon. the wider the ribbon the less it takes to make an impact. Loops and tails make for a fun bow treatment. Good quality ribbon will last several years.

Red and Green says Merry Christmas

Opportunities to be a part of the community and benefit organizations and charities are always taken around the holidays. Museum of the Southwest hosts Christmas at the Mansion every year and local stores and designers help to decorate the areas at the museum.

Large decorated garlands festively decorated in red and green hang over the doorway. Topiaries dressed up with lit packages, stand guard beside the door and welcome guests.

Inside furniture from a local interior designer front is show cased in the parlor and sets the stage for a beautiful flocked tree. A palette of olive green, lime green, and reds, black and cream paper mache balls, burlap ribbon tied with cheetah print velvet and tufted metallic olive green ornaments assist in the decoration of the tree. The choices of the decorations add interest and texture to the unexpected mixture. A beautiful wow for all to see.

Inside The Musuem of the Southwest for Christmas

Patrons of the museum decorate areas and trees as well. This gingerbread town with a presiding snowman as mayor is festive, fun, and colorful. Turquoise adds a pop that is unusually delectable. Lime green, pink, and turquoise ribbon look so yummy with the traditional red and white.

TIP: Mesh fabric used as ribbon tied in loops and woven through the tree is colorful and works as great filler. Starting at the top and working in a spiral around the tree downward tuck the mesh in and out.

How to use Christmas mesh?

DECORATING TIP: Lime green is almost as popular as Christmas green and certainly adds a fresh bold color to any tree, wreath, or garland. To add zing all over your project use in multiple numbers distributed throughout.

This was the second year to work with this client. We helped her to welcome all guests to her new home in the Christmas holidays. She wanted clean lines with touches of the unexpected and funky fun looks.

The front was a beautiful entry way styled with frosty teardrops, and covered by a fancy balcony.

The grand living area has a natural and frosty look. The garland featured frosty icicle branches and beautiful pinecones.

There are many great red accents in the house, so it was easy to add these red pencil trees to the foyer and shirts of red mesh completed the look.

Sometimes we ignore the décor and go with traditional colors for the Christmas decorating and sometimes we embrace the décor and treat it as part of the whole look.

Lots of classic green and gold were used to compliment the buck and traditional style of the home. Whimsical signs with lots of white were added to the garland wreath and door way for a lively touch.
