We believe there are 4 steps to creating  your Christmas Theme or Color Story.

1. Select the room or location where you will place your largest Christmas decoration the Christmas Tree and decide on main ingredients or a color story that fits that room, home décor or favorite collection.

Theme ideas include Gingerbread for a kitchen or breakfast nook,  Western or Woodsy Lodge for den, man’s study or office. Dressy Red and Gold or Gold and Crystal for a dining room or entryway. Peacock inspired for a bedroom or living room. Your space and home décor colors will help determine. A favorite collection of ornaments or family heirlooms needs to be considered. The choices are only limited by your imagination and creativity!

Christmas never tasted so sweet! Christmas Confections Tree Theme

 Sweet Christmas Confection tree topper

Sweet Christmas Confection tree topper

Our colorful Christmas Confection tree topper is so sweet and simple. All it takes is the Show Me Decorating 3 key ingredients, ribbon, florals and a focal point.

A flocked tree is a perfect backdrop for this colorful candy Christmas Confection tree theme.

Large Red, White Swirl Lollipop

Large Red, White Swirl Lollipop

Start with a giant red lollipop, 3 floral sprays to compliment the tree theme, and 2 bows made with wired ribbon. A recipe for this sweet tree can be found at Show Me Decorating. Christmas Confection Tree Theme

Curly Spray, fun floral for the ChristmasConfection Tree theme!

Curly Spray, fun floral for the Christmas Confection Tree theme!

We start at the top of the tree placing 2 bows back to back leaving part of the tree top showing. So many times we see bows perched on top of the tree and we prefer to wire on lower on the tree top and then placing 2nd bow in back. This gives the appearance of a bow all the way around!

Red and green swirl dot wired ribbon pops against the solid colored glitter mesh.

Lime green glitter mesh is a versatile wired ribbon.

Lime green glitter mesh is a versatile wired ribbon.

Next place the focal point or tree topper  (the Red and White lollipop) and secure with florist wire. A faux tree, green or flocked has wired branches making them easy to decorate and secure bows, florals, balls and ornaments. However the same decorating techniques can work on a live Christmas Tree.

Floral stems complement our Christmas Confection tree theme. 3 different floral sprays are used at the top and placed directly into the top of the tree, no need for wiring on this top. A Fuchsia Poinsettia is added for a finishing touch.

Peppermint Sequin ball spray in Red and white are another seer addition to this tree theme.

Using our step by step Tree decorating DVD or downloading the Christmas Tree decorating app for your iPhone or iPad, you will gain the confidence and expertise to decorate your largest Christmas decoration the Christmas tree!

Show Me Christmas in July-How to Pick a Theme

Royal Red & Gold

“Theming for a Lifestyle”

Definition of a theme:

Wikipedia: “a central topic, a subject or concept (the author is trying to point out)”

Webster’s: “a unifying or dominant idea or motif with common elements”

Show Me Decorating: simplified focus, narrowing choices of common elements when decorating for Christmas, parties, events, home décor and personal style

Why Theme?

1. A unifying concept or theme gives even modest home displays a professional sheen

2. Simplifies your decorating, buying

3. Saves money and time

4. Creates focus and finish

We live it,it is our way of life!

Home: Home décor and interior decorating

Volunteer work: Teacher appreciation, charity events

Church: Women’s ministry and special events

Dressing: simplifies getting ready, packing and looking pulled together

We have lived this way for so long and have taught our kids as we celebrated birthdays, hosted baby or bridal showers, that they are using these same ideas in decorating their homes and celebrations.

To see more of our shared ideas, table displays, parties and event decorations, decorated Christmas trees and houses, check out our blog!

Plan around a collection, interest, hobby or home décor

Christmas Trees come in many shapes and sizes and decorated a 101 different ways. However the most popular is a 7 1/2′ green tree, decorated in traditional red and green, with a touch of gold. Many of the tree decoration suppliers claim to sell 80% red to all the other colors! Whatever your taste or style there is a theme or color story for you! Here we share a few of our most popular color combinations and themes!

Christmas Gone Wild

Christmas Gone Wild-“Wow” your traditional red, green, and gold holiday theme with leopard velvet ribbon mixed with plaids and stripes and take your personal mixture of family ornaments over the top!
