 Sweet Christmas Confection tree topper

Sweet Christmas Confection tree topper

Our colorful Christmas Confection tree topper is so sweet and simple. All it takes is the Show Me Decorating 3 key ingredients, ribbon, florals and a focal point.

A flocked tree is a perfect backdrop for this colorful candy Christmas Confection tree theme.

Large Red, White Swirl Lollipop

Start with a giant red lollipop, 3 floral sprays to compliment the tree theme, and 2 bows made with wired ribbon. A recipe for this sweet tree can be found at Show Me Decorating. Christmas Confection Tree Theme

We start at the top of the tree placing 2 bows back to back leaving part of the tree top showing. So many times we see bows perched on top of the tree and we prefer to wire on lower on the tree top and then placing 2nd bow in back. This gives the appearance of a bow all the way around!

Lime green glitter mesh is a versatile wired ribbon.

Next place the focal point or tree topper  (the Red and White lollipop) and secure with florist wire. A faux tree, green or flocked has wired branches making them easy to decorate and secure bows, florals, balls and ornaments. However the same decorating techniques can work on a live Christmas Tree.

Floral stems complement our Christmas Confection tree theme. 3 different floral sprays are used at the top and placed directly into the top of the tree, no need for wiring on this top. A Fuchsia Poinsettia is added for a finishing touch.

Peppermint Sequin ball spray in Red and white are another seer addition to this tree theme.

Show Me Happy Halloween Party!

The house is decorated and now it is time for a party and Trick or Treaters!!!

I wanted to share pictures of my Halloween house decorations!

Welcome to my home!

I love pumpkins and mums because they do double duty! I enjoy them for Halloween all the way thru to Thanksgiving! I decided to create a pumpkin patch in my flower beds and left my mums in pots and added the pumpkins in with the plants left over from summer.

My wacky witch wreath on the front door!

Welcome trick or treaters! I am more fun than scary. I love the pop of Black and White!

My fireplace before

My Fireplace after

The orange pumpkins glow on the mantel with their foil finish! notice the same candle sticks and orange candles? Not everything has to change out! I love double duty decorating!

My piano top is a great place to showcase my smiling pumpkins!

My chandelier is spooked up with Black glitter garland, witches arms and a big black spider!

Rebecca adds a table runner to be the base for the Dept. 56 Halloween Village display

Now the fun begins with the spooky set up! Base to add height.

Rebecca gets started

We use 2 houses, trees, and accessories to create a spooky scene!

Rebecca checks lights & mechanical pieces to be sure all is in working order as she sets up!

We have Fog, and the set up continues

Rebecca loves her Halloween Dept. 56 village! especially the foggy base.

A favorite spot to view the spooky village!

Now we are ready for a party, or should I say parties! Once I am decorated I will host multiple parties, and get double even triple duty from my decorations! Tables, chairs, serving pieces are all ready so let the party begin…….

We are dressed for the occasion!

Fun simple food is the way to go! So many ideas from Pinterest, Woman’s Day, Better Homes and Gardens, TomKat Studios and the list goes on and on! I chose a chili bar with all the fixins!

Check out the next blog for the party food!

“Show Me” the Candy! (For a Wedding!)

Wow who wouldn’t want to be a kid in a candy store?

Recently I was able to help a good friend create a Candy Bar for a wedding! What fun we had. The bride’s mom preordered candy from several websites all in blue, green, turquoise and white. (M&M’s, Jelly beans, Sour punch straws, gummy sharks and rock candy suckers to name a few.) This coordinated with the bride’s peacock color story and theme! Hope you all enjoy!

All the candy was ordered in green and blue

Blue and green M&M's ordered just for the candy bar!

We gathered up as many glass assorted containers as we could find. All different shapes and sizes, a wider opening is always good so a scoop can fit, and then we begin filling and layering! This is not a perfect science and as you will see when it is all put together, it’s fun and beautiful!

It helps to have two hands!

Layered candy looks best! Closeup of rock candy.

Yum! Finished candy bar looks good enough to eat!

The table was skirted in a white table-cloth, white cord Christmas lights were layed on the table top and covered with sheer white, green and turquoise fabric from Hancock Fabrics.
Filled glass containers and vases were artfully arranged with the fabric draped in and out. The lights gave a shimmering glow.

Starting to arrange all the filled jars.

Clear bags for guest to fill with candy.

“Thank you for sharing in Our Sweet Beginning” was printed on the labels with green and blue twist ties provided to seal the filled bag of goodies!

As a finishing touch, narrow green and blue satin ribbon was tied on the necks of many of the containers. Fun giant jawbreakers topped the M&M’s. Blue and green ring pops gave a nod to the newly exchanged wedding rings, and gummy sharks swam in a sea of jelly beans in honor of the grooms love of fishing!

Scoops and tongs topped off the jars ready for guest to enjoy.

Finished Candy bar!

The beautiful reception, decorated and ready for a celebration. The theme and color story of peacocks pops against the black table cloths and chair covers!

Show Me some of your candy bar ideas!
